Dave, this is the second of many of your features I'm sure I will explore. I've always loved this song, and indeed, the whole of the Revolver album. What's not often noted about the album is that it's The Beatles most amazing GUITAR album. Not only are there so many new and great guitar tones employed, but the playing itself is exemplary. This song is one of the major contributors...the interplay between John and George, with one of them hitting the seventh note on the third chord, is marvelous. One final note: when I listen with headphones, I hear "BOB Robert," not "Doc Robert" on the two occasions when "Doctor Robert" is clearly not sung. This would reinforce Barry Miles' identifying Robert Freymann as the titular character.
