The electric piano-like sound of Lennon's Gibson J160E can be attributed partly to the installed single coil P90 pickup, which was installed on the guitar between the soundhole and fingerboard. Plugged into (presumably) a Vox AC30 amplifier, the results are unlike any guitar sound recorded to date.
