I think Paul had a big hand in the chorus too, he cleary wrote the "shessss.... leaving home" part (the long sustained notes), and that inspired John to came up with the answering lines (the greek chorus, which is the countermelody). I think Paul also came up with the second chorus " she is leaving home, after living alone for so many years..." By the way, great website.
