Titanicologist, Beatlelologist, Dennis BrainiacVery good backround, maybe it's the two bar intro that sparked this but to my ears their Hamburg Roadrunner cover is the bedrock on which this tune was built, put another way it's not hard to imagine the rhythm section grinding out Roadrunner and overlaying the elements of Hold Me Tight over that with minimal effort; brings to mind I Saw Her Standing and You Can't Catch Me.

Son home from college, two small children, field day at school, full time job, quilting work (massive t-shirt quilt), gardening (gardenias have a fungus), making reusable lunch sacks, MOUNTAINS of laundry, GOT to go to the grocery store before we start eating the furniture, bills, library, billing for husbands business, I could go on but I really don’t want to further depress you plus I’m getting an eye twitch ;0)

I think Paul had a big hand in the chorus too, he clearly wrote the "shessss.... leaving home" part (the long sustained notes), and that inspired John to came up with the answering lines (the greek chorus, which is the countermelody).

re: re: re: re: Resemblance to...My plan to organize beettr this year is to buy a nice small file cabinet. We have SOOO many papers that it's hard to keep the desk area nice and clean and it drives me crazy so then I stack Jason's papers to make it look a little decent and then the stack gets too high... anyways.. I need to decide things that are "ok" to throw out and things I really to to save and purchase the file cabinet to hold them! I'm really going to do it!!! I keep saying I'm going to but really.. the beginning of the new year sounds like a good time, right?

MrYou forgot to mention that John made the same claim about Paul's contribution to In My Life many years earlier to Jann Wenner. Initially when asked about In My Life , John's response sounded like he wrote it but he was quick to correct himself and say that Paul wrote the middle 8 and he remained consistent with that view in his lifetime. I don't believe Paul because when John presented the song it sounds like there's no music no melody when clearly there had to be so I think Paul probably fleshed out John's melody and thinks he wrote the whole thing.
